![]() | Ask about Flute Salad's fun yet educational performances geared just for kids. Our kids' program blends different areas of interaction, including music, history, social studies, and even movement/dance. Using a timeline, we start with "Yankee Doodle" from 1775 and take kids through the timeline all the way up to "You've Got a Friend in Me" from Toy Story and "Nimbus 2000" from Harry Potter. In between, we have pieces such as "Mexican Hat Dance," "Over the Rainbow," "Pink Panther," "Linus and Lucy," and more. As part of the program, we introduce and play the piccolo and the more unusual alto flute, and we have opportunities for kids to move/dance and use maracas as well. At the end of the music portion, kids can try out a flute and a piccolo, which is a favorite part of the program. Kids also enjoy stickers and stamps as a third hands-on area, where they can ask questions and such as well. Overall, the program is educational, interactive, and just fun. The full program runs 75 to 85 minutes from start to end. We can trim the program according to your time needs, and we can adapt the program for younger or older kids. Specially priced for schools and non-profit organizations: $100. |

[Music education programs] like the one Flute Salad has developed are so important. We need more people doing those sort of programs. I did them for many years when I was taking the organ around. It always amazed me how interested the audiences actually were in the music once exposed to it." --Aram Basmadjian, Concert Organist
